The Consumer Department for GSK states that the source (type of fish being used) is proprietary. Beano has been designated Unclean. HP Health Care Products Update: 11-23-02 DiabetiSweet is a sugar substitute, and is free of pork ingredients. It is certified kosher by the OU. It is designated Clean. Jason Products Update: 11-23-02 Sea Fresh Whitening Toothpaste is free of animal by-products as well as the other products made by Jason. They are designated Clean and may be purchased at most Health Food Stores. Mrs. Smith's Bakeries Update: 11-23-02 Deep Dish Pie Crust is free of pork ingredients and is certified kosher by the OU. Nabisco Update: 11-23-02 Knox Gelatin uses both beef and pork gelatin. It has been designated Unclean. Campbell Soup Company Update: 08-09-02 The following products are free of pork ingredients: Pace Picante Sauce Pace Thick & Chunky Salsa Tomato Juice V8 Vegetable Juice Hershey’s Candy Update: 08-08-02 Not all of the Jolly Rancher candies contain gelatin. The Jolly Rancher Gummis and Fruit Chews contain pork gelatin, they are unclean. The hard candies are clean. Amazin’ Fruit (all varieties) contain pork gelatin, they are unclean. Good ‘N Fruity and Good ‘N Plenty contain Carmine, they are unclean. Jel-Sert Update: 07-15-02 Jel-Sert is now using PORK gelatin in their Royal Gelatin Products. They are now designated Unclean. These products are bearing a “K” symbol without a circle. Please understand that just because a product has a “k” on it this does not make it acceptable. Pepperidge Farm Update: 07-12-02 The enzymes used in Pepperidge Farm products are no longer from pork sources. Their enzymes and rennet are now Beef and Microbial. Campbell Soup Company Update: 07-15-02 Franco American Pasta (Enzymes, Beef/Pork) Unclean Prego Pasta Sauces (Enzymes, Beef/Pork) Unclean Campbell Soup Company Update: 07-12-02 Campbell Soup makes over 175 soups. Hershey’s Candy Update: 05-29-02 All products made by Hershey’s Candy Company containing Gelatin are UNCLEAN. The gelatin used in their products is pork-based. The “Ko” symbol on some of their products stands for Kosher Service. This organization allows the use of pork gelatin in Hershey’s products. Please be careful and read all labels. Ocean Spray Update: 05-03-02 Ocean Spray’s White Cranberry Peach Juice contains a food coloring called CANTHAXANTHIN. It is derived from the following sources: Edible mushrooms, trout, salmon, tropical birds and Crustaceans (Lobster, Crabs, Crayfish and other shell fish). There is no way of knowing which source is being used at any given time and for this reason this additive has been designated Unclean. There are still Ocean Spray Juices on the shelves in some stores that have Carmine/Cochineal in them. These are old stock, so please read the LABELS before you purchase any of their products. Ocean Spray Update: 04-30-02 Ocean Spray did use Carmine or Cochineal in their grapefruit juice products at one time. However due to consumer contacts, they have since changed the coloring to Red #40. All of the Ruby Red Drinks are now designated CLEAN. The Kroger Company Update: 04-30-02 The Kroger Company cannot guarantee that there will not be an animal rennin used in their Cheeses and that since there is some controversy on the subject, they also cannot guarantee that there is no pork being used. |
