The following is a list of their Clean Baby formulas: Nestle Good Start Essentials (formerly Nestle Carnation Follow Up), Nestle Good Start Essentials Soy (Alsoy), and Nestle Good Start 2 Essentials (formerly Nestle Carnation Follow Up Soy). They are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and bear a (U)D kosher symbol. AstraZeneca Update: 08-19-03 Prilosec is no longer designated Clean. Prilosec now contains Gelatin derived from animal (Pork/beef) and plant sources. It is designated Unclean. Heinz Update: 08-19-03 The following Heinz Soups are Clean and certified kosher by the OU: Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Celery, Cream of Green Pea, Cream of Potato, Tomato Soup and Vegetarian Vegetable. Heinz sells them Wholesale, so please contact your local grocer and ask them to stock Heinz soups. Protonix Update: 08-19-03 Protonix is made by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and contains no animal ingedients and no gelatin. The coating is a synthetic polymer. There are no dyes, wheat, nor eggs used in the product. It comes in Tablet and Intravenous forms. It is designated Clean. Prevacid Update: 08-19-03 Prevacid comes in two forms: capsule and oral suspension packets. The capsule form contains beef/pork derived gelatin and is designated Unclean. The oral suspension (prescription needed) contains Magnesium Stearate from beef sources, it is designated Clean. Nestle Update: 08-08-03 Wonka Pixy Stix in paper straws contain Carmine and are designated Unclean. The company stated that the Sour Pixy Stix and the Pixy Stix in plastic straws do not contain Carmine. Kraft (Callard Bowser-Succhard) Update 08-01-03 Altoid Mints are still designated Unclean. They are still using Pork derived gelatin in the product. Atkinson Candy Co. Update: 07-25-03 *(08-01-03) Atkinson's Coconut Long Boys are pork free; the Mono-diglycerides are soybean based. None of their other products contain ingredients derived from animal sources. All of their products are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union (OU). Some of their products are: Chick-O-Sticks, MintTwists, Peanut Butter Bars, Rainbow Coconut Bars, and Assorted Sours (Hard Candy). They are designated Clean. *Judson-Atkinson Candies' is a sister company of Atkinson Candy Co. The Judson-Atkinson Assorted Sours (Soft Candy) contains carmine. These are the Cherry Sour Balls, as well as the other flavors. None of their products are certified kosher. They are designated Unclean. George Weston Bakeries Update: 07-21-03 Thomas' Sahara Pita Breads are free of animal ingredients. The product is vegetable based and is certified kosher by the Orthodox Union (OU). The Pita Breads come in 4 varieties: White, Wheat, Oat Bran, and Onion. They are designated Clean. Novartis Update: 07-11-03 Benefiber is 100% Guar Gum and does not contain any animal ingredients. It is designated Clean. Citrucel Update: 07-04-03 Citrucel powders are animal free and designated Clean. The Citrucel Caplets may contain Beef/Pork derived Magnesium Stearate and is designated Unclean. Metamucil Update: 07-04-03 Metamucil Powders and Wafers are animal free. The gelatin used to make the capsules is beef. These products are designated Clean. Aldi's Update: 06-13-03 Aldi’s SnackRite Snack Crackers are Clean. Aldi's Kirkwood Turkey Bacon is Unclean. Nature's Care Update: 03-03-03 Nature's Care Natural Toothpaste hasn't any animal ingredients: it is designated clean. Special Notice (1): 02-27-03 We have been seeing a lot of products with the phrase "kosher gelatin", please understand that this phrase does not mean that the gelatin is pork free.. Some kosher organizations will give a product containing gelatin that has been processed as a non-food ingredient a kosher status of Clean, such as the Ko symbol. These products are not CLEAN. Special Notice (2): 02-27-03 Sam's Club Bakery Items have not been researched as of yet, but we have noticed that a lot of their products contain Cysteine-L as well as other ingredients that might be from pork sources. These products do not contain gelatin nor carmine/cochineal. The Amazin' Fruit Gummi Bears (both original and tropical) and the Heide Gummi Bears contain gelatin. The gelatin is made of pork. They are designated Unclean. Hormel Foods Corp. Update: 02-27-03 Hormel's Chili No Beans and Hormel Chili With Beans are pork free. They are designated Clean. Hormel's Turkey Spam is processed on the same machinery used to process the original Spam which is made of pork. It is designated Unclean. Tom's of Maine Inc. Update: 02-27-03 Tom's of Maine Inc. Natural Toothpaste is free of animal ingredients and is certified kosher by the Orthodox Union. It is designated Clean. Dole Foods Inc. Update: 02-04-03 Most of Dole's Fruit N' Gel Bowls are Clean except for those containing Cochineal. Please read all labels. Novartis Update: 01-10-03 Tavist Allergy contains pork. It is unclean. None of Novartis' products have been certified kosher. Natural Balance Co. Update: 01-10-03 Natural Balance Colon Clenz is unclean, the capsules are made with pork gelatin. King's Hawaiian Bread Update: 01-07-03 King's Hawaiian Bread and Rolls now contain Cysteine-L, they are no longer designated as a clean product. They are now UNCLEAN.
